"A Tribute To Paul Desmond" Radio Campaign
- The international radio campaign for my homage to Paul Desmond began on Jan. 8, 2012. We are receiving rave reviews and are getting play in New York City, Denver, Hawaii and Tel Aviv to name just a few of the places I'd like to visit. Last year, "Things Are Getting Better", hit #2 on the national jazz airplay charts and is locked in at #24 in the nation for 2011! Luther Hughes has played bass with some of the biggest names in jazz in a career spanning over 30 years. Initially formed as homage to the landmark 1959 Cannonball Adderley/John Coltrane album The Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Chicago, the group continues to pay tribute to these jazz giants with arrangements and original compositions related to, or inspired by, Cannonball and Coltrane.
These cats are interpretive – that is, not a copy, but rather the players' impressions and feelings of the originals. You will experience the great admiration and love these musicians have for the original artists and recordings, reflected in their genuine performance.
